If you’ve been around a while, you’ll know we had two big DeFi “seasons” since the summer of 2020

Since the big drop of $BTC in May, the whole DeFi market has cooled off to some degree

That doesn’t mean it went away, far from it — but it did get less frothy and certainly there was less retail FOMO in the space

I think most of us who are paying attention will agree that DeFi is here to stay

The world’s monetary system isn’t becoming fairer, or more user friendly to the “ordinary person”

At the same time, the progression of regulations (which I think is a necessary and good thing for the long term of the industry) is causing pain to the Centralized Exchanges

So if DeFi isn’t going away, we can assume that something will be a catalyst for the next DeFi season

And at the moment, it should be pretty obvious, that it’s NFTs, more specifically gaming NFTs (although not exclusively)

Is it sustainable enough to drive a whole new wave of interest in DeFi in general?

Is the whole of the crypto market going to recover enough to sustain pumps?

Is DeFi going to somewhat break off from the “blue chip” cryptos and have cycles all of its own?

It remains to be seen

The fact remains though that Gaming is a MASSIVE industry (FTX didn’t sponsor one of the biggest e-sports teams just for fun)

And it is a great way to bring the non-crypto native user into crypto

If you believe this to be the case, you’re likely to want to build some exposure to the sector as a whole — but where to start?

Personally, as much as I like to build exposure to projects I feel have the potential to do very well, I really like to look for the people who are selling the shovels in the gold rush

What is GameStarter?

It is a NFT Based crowdfunding platform & Marketplace for game developers

It is pretty straightforward and needed to help reduce the workload on Developers

I will try and break down what they are, what they are not and their unique offerings.

Firstly, there are 4 major reasons why I think this project is interesting

1. They aren’t competing for common market share with other fundraising platforms

NFT-Gaming is still a relatively small niche so almost all the projects in the space have little serious competition at the moment

2. The gaming industry is already huge and it is still growing at a fast rate with NFT projects being integrated into games being a relatively new and exciting addition

3. They will not just be optimized for new projects but also existing projects

4. The founding team come from a game development background

So, they understand what is needed to solve problems for gamers and game developers

5. They are also trying to solve a very controversial issue in crypto, does every project need a token?

Game developers don’t necessarily need to issue their own utility tokens and by using Gamestarter, won’t have to worry about the legal implications of having to issue one while still raising funds

Which couldn’t have come at a better time with the heavy regulatory scrutiny crypto is currently facing

On top of that gamers won’t need to participate in potentially risky crowdfunding to get exposure to a game they like

Team behind GameStarter

The team behind this project as mentioned earlier have experience in the gaming industry (among others) and so know the pain points other developers are running into

The type of backers they have, e.g DAO MAKER and AU21 amongst a host of others is another temperature check I like to use

Not a hard fast rule at all, but it’s usually a good thing to invest in projects with investors that have a proven track record of good projects

More on the $GAME token

The fundamentals for the $GAME token are very unique in the fact that it is pivotal to the operations of the project

Not just some afterthought token with a single purpose of generating liquidity for the platform

$GAME will be used for funding and all asset trading activities in the marketplace.

Token holders will also benefit from things like:

1. Trading discounts in the NFT Marketplace whenever $GAME is used for fees
2. VIP access to hottest in-game NFT assets

3. Token will also be used for engagement incentives for the community, users of the platform will have the opportunity to easily and instantly earn $GAME by completing actions like:

• Referring of players
• Participating in Betas
• Watching advertisements
• Reporting bugs
• Writing reviews

The Tokenomics is solid with low raises and initial marketcaps and no insane valuations

This gives it room for growth out of the gate

$GAME will go live on the Ethereum blockchain

Starting Month 3 there will be tokens released every month, so those looking at getting exposure to the token will likely want to keep that in mind as it may generate some good entries

Thoughts on the future of GameStarter

Investing in projects with first mover advantage is great but we need to be cautious of claims

Having a team with this level of expertise and knowledge of the field trying to achieve something in the realms of possibility eases those fears to some degree

In the NFT gaming space it’s likely that some projects will do great and some not so well but if like me you believe NFT gaming is the next move, GameStarter could be a good way to get exposure to a basket of projects

The road map has some really interesting things coming up, all the way to the end of next year
